Former Chamberlain High quarterback Dontae Aycock, the 2008 Guy Toph Award winner, has been offered a preferred walk-on spot at the Unversity of South Florida.
Aycock spent his freshman season as a redshirt running back at Auburn. He was dismissed from the team in May for an unspecified violation of team rules.
Aycock met with USF coach Skip Holtz last week about an opportunity to join the Bulls.
"If he ends up at USF, the minute he steps onto the field he can be their best running back," said Brian Turner, who was Aycock's position coach at Chamberlain. "That's how good he is."
USF officials can't comment on unsigned transfers and recruits, but the university is expected to offer Aycock a scholarship if he enrolls this fall and stays out of trouble for a minimum of one semester.
Aycock did not return a phone message or text message Thursday.
