Ryan Atkinson gave Steinbrenner High a lead two pitches into the game, and the Warriors never looked back in Tuesday's 9-4 victory at Robinson.
Atkinson's first high school home run sparked an early outburst by the Warriors (6-1), who scored five through the first two innings and held a 9-1 lead in the fourth.
"We were glad to score a lot of runs the first few innings," said Atkinson, who was 3-for-5 with two RBIs and two runs. "That was the game plan."
The top of Steinbrenner's order did most of the damage. In addition to leadoff man Atkinson, No. 2 hitter Stone Ramsey (2-for-3, two runs, RBI) and No. 3 Chad Witkowski (3-for-3, three RBIs) also had big nights at the plate.
"We'd been getting real good pitching in a lot of our games, and today I think our hitting came through," Steinbrenner coach John Crumbley said. "It was a good first game of the week, and hopefully we can continue to get effort on Friday and Saturday."
Conner Rafferty hit a two-run homer in the fourth to lead the Knights (2-4).

Chris Ciocia preserved the shutout with two scoreless innings, allowing one hit.
Jimmy Herget hit a three-run homer for Jefferson (4-2), and Kevin Cruz added a two-run shot. Dennis Lopez contributed a run-scoring double.
