Berkeley Prep standout Jordan Burgess added to her list of achievements Wednesday as she was named the Gatorade Florida Volleyball Player of the Year for the second consecutive year.
Burgess, the fifth Berkeley Prep player to earn the honor, is now eligible for Gatorade's national volleyball player of the year award.
Burgess, who helped Berkeley Prep to the Class 4A state title, was previously named the Dairy Farmers Florida state volleyball player of the year. Burgess, who is headed to Stanford next fall, helped the Bucs to a 30-2 record and their third consecutive state title. The senior outside hitter had 553 kills, 366 digs and 48 service aces.
Burgess is also stellar off the court, amassing a 4.00 GPA and is also a founding director of the Everyone Should Play Foundation, which assists the area's disadvantaged youth by offsetting registration and equipment costs to play sports.
