Berkeley Prep boys soccer coach Timothy Cooper knew that it would be a one-goal game. He was right.
The Buccaneers defeated Clearwater Central Catholic by six goals earlier in the season, and Cooper said that was a fluke. Friday night, the Bucs beat CCC, 2-1, in a game that went down to the wire in the Class 3A-District 10 district final.
If the Bucs and Marauders win their region quarterfinal games Thursday, they will face each other for a third time.
Tanner Bailey scored the winner Friday at the 29-minute mark of the second half, taking a perfect feed from Tyler Sacone and knocking it home.
"You have to give the credit to Tyler for making the perfect pass,'' Bailey said. "It was right there, and it was easy for me. He does that every day in practice.''
The Bucs (16-3-2) won their fourth straight district title.
Kurt Akman started the scoring at the 32-minute mark, and CCC came back at the 18-minute mark when Kyle Curinga scored on a penalty kick.
Berkeley Prep regained control at the 29-minute mark of the second half when Bailey scored.
CCC kept up the pressure during the final 10 minutes but couldn't capitalize.
