With aspirations of being a two-sport athlete, Alonso's Brandon Holloway has given a verbal commitment to play football at Mississippi State.
He also plans to run track for the Bulldogs.
"I went there for a visit and I really like the coaches," Holloway said. "I've been talking to the coaches a lot since I started to get recruited. I just think the program is going in the right direction and they have great academics there."
Holloway said his talks with Mississippi State coach Dan Mullen about his track aspirations assured him.
"He's already dealt with other players who have ran track when he was at Florida," Holloway said of Mullen, who was a Gators assistant from 2005-08. "He had Jeff Demps, Percy Harvin, so it's not anything different."
Last season on the football field, Holloway led the Ravens with 97 carries for 406 yards. He also played defensive back, and he returned eight punts for 130 yards and had nine kickoff returns for 188 yards.
During the track season, he was a region champion and county leader in the 100- and 200-meter runs. He qualified for the state tournament in both events, placing seventh in the 100 final.
