Plant High's boys basketball program is under the microscope of the FHSAA in regards to possible infractions.
The state's athletic governing body released a statement to The Tampa Tribune following a request about information regarding the program and possible violations.
"The FHSAA is aware of possible violations within the Plant athletic department," FHSAA spokesman Seth Polansky said in a statement. "However, the matter has been turned over to the school for an internal investigation.
"The FHSAA will not address the matter until it receives a final report from the school."
A voice mail left for Coach Mike Phillips on Tuesday asked if he had been fired, his text response was "Per legal council, I cannot comment at this time." Plant principal Robert Nelson and athletic director Laura Figuerdo did not return phone calls.
Plant boys basketball team finished 20-8 and lost in the regional quarterfinals to Sarasota Riverview. Phillips, Plant's coach since 1996, won his 300th career game this season.
