It was really fun to see I could make the cut and I would've made money had I not been in amateur. I realized I could compete with the professionals. Also, last year, I shot 66 in a tournament, my lowest round, at the Orange Lake Resort in Orlando. It was a grinding day. I didn't feel like I shot that well, but then you look at the scorecard and it was a great day.''

If I get a B in school, they're not going to freak out on me if I've tried my best. They always support me in swimming, but if I suddenly didn't like it anymore, they wouldn't force me to keep doing it. They let me choose what I want to do. They're not the vicarious type.''
Where I will be in 10 years: "I feel like I'd still be pursuing education in graduate school. That's how I'm approaching recruiting. I don't really care if we win the national championship if the academics are good enough. Education is going to come first.''

There's so much I'd like to talk to her about.''
My parents: Ty and Mary Van De Grift. "No one has taken one step of a race for me, but I haven't done this journey alone. My parents have been with me every step of the way and I'm definitely grateful for having them as my parents.''
