On a Thursday night where Hillsborough celebrated their seniors' last home game of the regular season with a victory, across the field there also was a celebration.
Despite a disappointing season, Chamberlain (1-9) celebrated veteran coach Joe Severino's final game, as he retires after 36 years on the sideline.
"It's hard to believe (my career) is over,” Severino said. “We had a wild season, but they never quit and gave a great effort every week."
The Terriers (8-2) rushed for 207 yards and six touchdowns. Trevor Steinke led the way with three touchdowns (5, 5, 49).
Xavier Johnson led the Chiefs with 117 yards and a touchdown, an 8-yard run in the fourth quarter.
The victory sends Hillsborough into next week's region quarterfinal game at Largo on a positive note.
If the Terriers defeat Largo, then Hillsborough more than likely will get a rematch with Armwood. The Terriers lost to Armwood earlier this season, 38-16. Hillsborough's only other loss was to Plant.
