With the Heritage Trophy on the line, Blake ended up routing Middleton in the annual Heritage Classic.
Both teams entered the contest hoping to end four-game losing streaks and the Yellow Jackets were able to do just that behind the arm and legs of quarterback and Heritage MVP award winner Zain Gilmore.
Gilmore, who finished the night with 245 yards passing, operated mostly out of the shotgun and took command of the offense early. The first of his three scores came just 2 minutes into the game when he found receiver DeAndre James across the middle for 59 yards.
After Middleton fumbled away its opening possession, Gilmore went back to work, using the running game to set up a 30-yard touchdown pass to Earvin Williams.
Following a scoreless first quarter, the Tigers were able to get back into the game with two quick scores of their own. Richard Benjamin had touchdowns runs of 70 and 6 yards to tie the score entering halftime, but second-half penalties and turnovers kept Middleton out of the end zone.
