East Bay used a strong rushing attacked and a stingy defense to easily defeat nearby Riverview in a Class 7A-District 8 matchup.
Riverview fumbled the opening kickoff and East Bay took advantage right away with a four-play drive capped by an 11-yard touchdown run by Quantavious Gibbs.
Halfback Brandon Bryd extended the lead in the first quarter with a 21-yard touchdown run. The Indians took full control in the second quarter when Bryd connected on a halfback pass to Ben Franklin for a 45-yard score — one of only five passes East Bay attempted all night.
After taking a 32-0 lead into halftime, East Bay quarterback Tajee Fullwood’s 30-yard touchdown run ended the scoring for the Indians. Fullwood finished with 106 yards rushing and two touchdowns.
East Bay's defense held Riverview to just four first downs the entire game and stopped the Sharks twice on fourth-and-1. Quarterback Chase Freeman did have a 1-yard quarterback sneak for a touchdown to help Riverview avoid the shutout.
