With 16 touchdowns and the lead changing hands five times, the Golden Eagles eventually outlasted the Patriots on Friday night.
Eagles quarterback Casey Woods threw a 36-yard touchdown pass to Sean Culkin to recapture the lead from the Patriots, late in the third quarter. After an offsides penalty on the following field goal attempt, the Eagles decided to send their offense back onto the field.
Vinny Capobianca, who also had a 10-yard touchdown run earlier in the night, received the handoff and ran it in for a two-point conversion, advancing the Eagles to a three-point lead with only 3:20 left.
The Patriots took over at the 48-yard line on their final drive. Quarterback Deuce Gruden completed a 23-yard pass to Andy Embody, positioning his team deep in Eagles territory. But the Eagles were able to come up with four defensive stops.
Patriots running back Robert Davis had touchdown runs of 77, 65, 39 and 37 yards.
