With Bloomingdale down by two points and on East Bay's 2-yard line with 43 second left in the game, the football squirted loose and Indians linebacker Demetri Green pounced on it to preserve a victory and hand the Bulls their first loss.
The see-saw game saw East Bay rush for 308 yards (Tajee Fullwood had 22 carries for 109 yards; Quantavious Gibbs 10-110; Brandon Byrd 8-62; and Laurent Quaeshawn 7-36). Fullwood also passed for 54 yards.
"That was exciting," said East Bay head coach Frank LaRosa. "We studied some film. We saw a front that we thought we would get from them and we got a little lucky too."
Bloomingdale took the opening kickoff and marched 73 yards for a touchdown.
East Bay's Eric Bennett took the kickoff after halftime and ran it back for an 84-yard touchdown.
In the pivotal fourth quarter, Bloomingdale scored 13 points and was on the verge of scoring again, despite losingrunning back Eugene Baker, who left the game midway through the fourth with leg cramps. He finished the game with 24 carries for 115 yards.
