After a slow start in the first quarter that included two turnovers that East Bay converted into scores, it was status quo for Newsome as running backs Keller Powers and Clint Carnell wore down the Indians' defense to give the Wolves their first district win of the season.
Carnell got Newsome on the board first, as the junior took the second play from scrimmage 72 yards for a touchdown.
East Bay answered on the next series as running back Brandon Byrd threw a 55-yard pass to junior Ben Franklin to even the score.
The Wolves' offense sputtered on the next two series, fumbling twice, and after one quarter the Indians led 21-7.
Quarterback Will Worth got Newsome back on track, hitting Powers with a 16-yard touchdown pass at the 11:17 mark of the second quarter.
From there it was all Wolves, who scored 42 unanswered points en route to the Class 7A-Distict 8 victory.
Powers and Carnell combined for 286 yards rushing — well over Newsome's rushing average of 247 yards a game.
