In a matchup of teams with similar game plans, it was Cambridge's ability to capitalize on drives that proved to be the difference.
Both teams utilized strong ground attacks, but Northside Christian was unable to finish drives against the Lancers defense.
The game's first score came on a 33-yard pass from Cambridge quarterback Phillip Johnson to wide receiver Brandon Park.
Later in the first quarter, Cambridge running back running back Daniel Hamilton scored on a 63-yard run. The big play was just a sign of more to come as Hamilton accounted for 150 yards of total offense and three touchdowns.
Later in the second quarter, Johnson would connect again with Park, this time from 40 yards, for a Lancers TD.
The Cambridge passing game complemented the running game, as the Lancers threw for 161 yards and rushed for 180.
The sure tackling of the Lancers contained the Mustangs offense until the final 30 seconds of the game when Northside was able to score and avoid the shutout.
