This season, it has been Carrollwood Day's offense that has shined on Fridays. But on Friday, the Patriots' offense struggled in the beginning and injuries took a toll, so the defense stepped up and dominated, scoring three Patriots touchdowns in a rout of Shorecrest Prep.
The Patriots' offense looked listless for most of the first half, not being able to get their high-powered offense going. The Patriots got on the board before halftime with a 25-yard touchdown run by Dominiq Sicardo and a fumble recovery for a 70-yard touchdown by Robert Davis.
"In the first half we showed no emotions," Patriots head coach Lane McLaughlin said. "Kids wanted to come out of the game, it was an embarrassing effort. But we came back and finished the game."
Patriots quarterback Deuce Gruden completed 11 of 19 passes for 153 yards and a touchdown.
Carrollwood Day, which improves to 3-1, hosts Admiral Farragut in a Class 2A-District 5 game next Friday.
