TAMPA - Running back Robby Garcia rushed for 154 yards and a touchdown to lead Jesuit to victory against Middleton.
Garcia had 110 yards and a touchdown at the half, putting Jesuit up 14-3 with a 1-yard touchdown run. Middleton scored with 15 seconds to play in the first half on a 38-yard touchdown pass from Willie Clay to Wendell Lewis.
After forcing a three-and-out to open the second half, Jesuit marched down the field and thanks to a roughing-the-kicker penalty on Middleton, scored on a 1-yard keeper by quarterback Bobby Eveld. After holding Middleton on an unsuccessful fourth-down attempt, Jesuit scored again on a 12-yard run by Miles Bennett to put the Tigers up 28-10.
The Jesuit defense then put the game out of reach 39 seconds later. Trace Williams forced Clay to fumble and Adam Crory picked the loose ball up and returned it six yards for a score.
In addition to losing the game, Middleton also lost leading running back Earnest Mingo, who was carted into an ambulance with what appeared to be a knee injury in the beginning of the fourth quarter.
