Plant and Wharton's boys tennis teams claim to Hillsborough County supremacy will have to wait until the district tournament.
Thunderstorms postponed the match, originally scheduled for Monday, until Wednesday, but weather once again interrupted the battle of the unbeatens, which was supposed to help settle seeding for the district tournament.
About an hour into the match, rain forced the players to seek shelter. With the regular season concluding this week, Plant is scheduled to play Newsome today and Wharton is to play Riverview so there is no time to resume the match.
Wharton's Ben Hwang won the first set of his No. 1 singles match. Plant's Brenton D'Adamo (No. 2) and Schuyler Welch (No. 5) won the first sets of their matches. The Nos. 4 and 5 singles matches were on serve when it was called. Seeding for districts will be determined at a meeting with the coaches before the start of the tournament.
