David Price has a chance to do something tonight he has never done during his career - beat the Chicago White Sox.
The Tampa Bay Rays' all-star left-hander is 0-4 in four starts against the White Sox, including a loss earlier this season.
Price will once again be matched against Edwin Jackson, the former Ray who struck out 13 during a 5-1 win on April 7 in Chicago. Price allowed three runs on nine hits in six innings on that cold, foggy afternoon at U.S Cellular Field.
Tonight marks Jackson's first start at Tropicana Field since he needed 149 pitches to throw a no-hitter against the Rays on June 25 as a member of the Arizona Diamondbacks.
The Rays won't know if sparkplug Johnny Damon will be available for tonight's game until he's checked out by the training staff this afternoon. Damon bruised the tip of his left ring finger when he tried to bunt during the third inning of Sunday's 4-2 loss to the Minnesota Twins.
After the game, Damon was listed as "day-to-day" and given the Rays' history of being cautious with injuries, it would seem unlikely he plays tonight.
Sunday's loss snapped a season-long five-game winning streak.
The Rays dropped three of four in Chicago during the first leg of the season's first road trip.
Since then the White Sox have been a mess. They have lost six of their last 10 games and bring a four-game losing streak into the Trop that includes a sweep by the visiting Angels over the weekend.
