Ex-Buc Ahanotu Arrested

»  Comments | Post a Comment

TAMPA Former Bucs defensive end Chidi Ahanotu was arrested Thursday afternoon on a charge of aggravated stalking.

Tania Danielle Hoffman claims in a report that Ahanotu, who played for the Bucs from 1993 to 2000 and briefly returned in 2004, stalked her.

His arrest comes the same month Ahanotu sued Hoffman, demanding his 'on-again, off-again girlfriend' return $18,000 he claims she took from him. That lawsuit also demands she return a diamond ring he gave her and other items he says she took from him.

Ahanotu, 36, is accused of sending threatening text messages to Hoffman, including one 'in which he indicated that he suffered from 'Post NFL aggression' and that he knew that he took his aggression out on the victim,' a Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office release states.

He was arrested about 12:30 p.m. in the Boston area.

Robert A. Samartin, an attorney for Ahanotu, wrote in an e-mail to the Tribune that he and other attorneys have asked the State Attorney's Office to review the facts of the case. 'This is something the sheriff's office has not done,' he wrote.

Everett Being Moved To A Houston Hospital

BUFFALO, N.Y. - Kevin Everett will be transferred this morning to a Houston hospital to begin the next phase of his rehabilitation, less than two weeks after the Buffalo Bills tight end sustained a life-threatening spinal cord injury.

And doctors said Thursday they believe he will be walking within weeks - perhaps sooner.

Everett was hurt while making a tackle in Buffalo's season opener against Denver on Sept. 9. Doctors initially expressed fears Everett would never walk again.

Study: Retired Jets No Worse For The Wear

NEW YORK - The retired players from at least one famed NFL team are in no worse health than the general population, according to a study to be released next week.

Researchers surveyed members of the 1968 New York Jets, who won the third Super Bowl. The ex-players suffered from arthritis at a higher-than-normal rate, but their overall health was similar to that of the average American man in the same age range.

The study appears in the October issue of The American Journal of Sports Medicine.

COLTS: Tight end Dallas Clark, right tackle Ryan Diem and outside linebacker Rob Morris - all starters - missed their second straight practice Thursday and may not play Sunday. Clark and Diem have neck injuries, while Morris has an abdominal strain. Morris missed last week's game at Tennessee.

DOLPHINS: Middle linebacker Zach Thomas underwent tests for a possible concussion, and he may miss Sunday's game against the New York Jets.

49ERS: Linebacker Manny Lawson will miss the rest of the season after tearing a ligament in his left knee at practice.

VIKINGS: Quarterback Tarvaris Jackson missed his second straight day of practice with a groin injury, making it likely that veteran Kelly Holcomb will start for the Vikings against the Chiefs on Sunday.
