Holliday Leaving Gators

GAINESVILLE - University of Florida safeties coach John "Doc" Holliday has accepted a job with the West Virginia University, Holliday's wife, Diana, said in a report from the Independent Florida Alligator.

"Unless something else comes up, it looks like he's headed that way," she said Thursday afternoon. "It was a very tough decision for him. He just decided."

Unnamed sources in the Charleston Daily Mail in West Virginia reported Holliday will be the associate head coach and recruiting coordinator.

Phone calls to Holliday's home and cell phone were not answered, and neither Florida nor West Virginia is commenting officially on the matter.

Holliday spent 23 years at West Virginia as both a player and coach. Florida coach Urban Meyer will now need to fill two coaching vacancies since running backs coach Stan Drayton accepted a job with the University of Tennessee earlier this week.
