TOP TEAMS
1. Newsome (3-0) - The Wolves graduated a lot of talent from last season's team, but plenty returns. Newsome won the Wharton Invitational by defeating Plant in the final on penalty kicks.
2. East Bay (2-0) - The Indians were a region finalist last season and return a lot of key weapons. Andrea Owens is back at keeper, and offensive threats Brittany Cox and Delaney Poli also return. The Indians have shut out King and Brandon.
3. Plant (2-1) - In a battle of two of Hillsborough County's best, the Panthers fell to Newsome after seven rounds of penalty kicks. Plant takes on former district rival Hillsborough tonight and new Class 6A-8 rival Bloomingdale on Thursday.
4. Tampa Prep (1-0-1) - The Terrapins need someone to step up as an on-field leader after some big losses from last season's team. Tampa Prep has tied St. Petersburg Catholic and pulled out a 5-3 win against Tampa Catholic.
5. Berkeley Prep (1-1) - After starting the season with an 8-0 win against Holy Names, the Buccaneers lost a tough 2-1 match to a very good Lake Highland Prep squad.
