TAMPA South Florida WR Carlton Mitchell has looked "OK" in practice this week, Coach Jim Leavitt said. Mitchell has missed the Bulls' past two games against Rutgers and Louisville with a high ankle sprain in his left ankle, but the coach said the junior No..1 receiver should be able to go Saturday against Miami.
Despite missing the last two games, Mitchell is Bulls' leading receiver in yardage (542) and is tied for the team lead in touchdowns (four) with junior Dontavia Bogan.
PRACTICE GOES ON AS PLANNED: Heavy rains and, more importantly, lightning held off long enough for South Florida to get in an afternoon practice that lasted a little more than an hour.
Leavitt said the Bulls will have a practice this morning at 10, and then some film study. The coach said the practice was planned early so players could get home for Thanksgiving dinner. At Tuesday's media luncheon, the head coach said he had thought about planning a team dinner for players who couldn't make it home because of distance, but when he asked if anyone would attend he said no one raised a hand.
Leavitt said all the players who weren't able to travel home for the holiday had been taken in by the families of teammates locally.
