Lightning center James Wright, a fourth-round pick in 2008, surprised many when he made the club out of training camp last year . The 6-foot-2, 205-pound forward appeared in 48 games before finishing the season with Vancouver of the Western Hockey League, helping the Giants advance to the Western Conference finals.
What is your most embarrassing moment in hockey?
That's easy. When I was 16 in my first rookie camp with Vancouver, they picked me to do the shootout for the first intrasquad game. As I made my way, the puck hopped over my stick and when I went back to get it I turned too sharp and I fell. I just hung my head in shame the rest of the camp.
What's been your greatest moment in hockey?
It's probably a tie between when we won the Memorial Cup that same year with Vancouver when I was 16, which is pretty awesome. And then probably my first NHL goal (Oct. 22 vs. San Jose), as well.
Where is the puck from that first goal?
It's in the place that me and (Steve) Downie shared, the condo that we shared and I don't have keys to it so I'm not sure if I'm going to be able to get it this trip.
