USA Football has assembled a wellness committee to deal with player health on the youth level.

The 17-member committee, headed by former Tampa Bay Buccaneers defensive coordinator Tom Bass, includes experts from family medicine, sports medicine, first aid, nutrition and neurology.

The committee roster represents the American Red Cross, the Andrews Institute, Gatorade Sports Science Institute, the National Center for Sport Safety, equipment manufacturer Riddell and several leading universities.

USA Football is the official youth football development partner of the NFL and the NFL Players Association. It annually hosts more than 80 football training events.

Bass ran the Bucs' defense from 1977 to 1982 under head coach John McKay. He also coached with the Cincinnati Bengals and San Diego Chargers in the NFL.
