Revis ends holdout, signs 4-year deal

Darrelle Revis signed his four-year deal with the New York Jets, officially marking his return to the team after a long holdout.

Revis agreed to a new contract late Sunday and took an early-morning flight Monday from his home in South Florida. He arrived at the Jets' training facility after 1 p.m., rejoined his teammates and signed the deal.

Revis says the process "humbled me" and he had "butterflies" before seeing his teammates because he didn't know what kind of reception they'd give him. He was relieved when they cheered him as he joined them on the practice field.

Revis didn't practice, but Coach Rex Ryan said the All-Pro cornerback will play in the season opener against Baltimore on Monday night.

"It was kind of funny," safety James Ihedigbo said. "A bunch of guys started the Rudy clap, that nice slow clap, as he came out."

"This has been a long saga," owner Woody Johnson said.

"There was an energy in our building, in this team, when we knew that Darrelle was coming back," Ryan said.

Revis was there in time to address the team and break down the practice huddle, with NFL Films cameras capturing the moment for HBO's "Hard Knocks" series.

"It was just good to see him," defensive tackle Kris Jenkins said. "He is a big part of this team and as much as some of us like to stick our shoulders up and our chests out about how good we are, this is a 53-man game and you need everybody. Having him back really puts the icing on the cake."

Revis' deal reportedly is worth $46 million, including $32 million guaranteed.

BROWNS: Nose tackle Shaun Rogers, who missed training camp and all four exhibition games while recovering from a leg injury that required surgery, returned to practice. Coach Eric Mangini said there's a chance the 6-foot-4, 350-pounder could play in Sunday's season opener at Tampa Bay.

RAVENS: Receiver T.J. Houshmandzadeh agreed to terms.

To make room for Houshmandzadeh on the roster, the Ravens traded wide receiver Mark Clayton to the St. Louis Rams for an undisclosed draft pick. Clayton, drafted 22nd overall by Baltimore in the 2005 draft, ranks third in Ravens history with 234 career catches and 3,116 yards.

Houshmandzadeh, a 10-year veteran, was cut by Seattle last week. He signed with the Seahawks as a free agent before the 2009 season and had a team-high 79 catches for 911 yards and three touchdowns.

TEXANS: Matt Leinart agreed to a one-year deal, according to agent Tom Condon.

Leinart was cut by Arizona on Saturday. Condon confirmed in a phone interview with The Associated Press on Monday that Leinart had reached a deal with the Texans.

The Texans would not confirm the deal. The team returns to practice Wednesday, leading up to Sunday's season opener against Indianapolis.
