A pair of goals from Mike Ambersley and one from Aaron King gave FC Tampa Bay its first win in four games, a 3-2 decision over Atlanta at Al Lang Stadium on Sunday.
"(We got a) victory, which is all important for the players," FC Tampa Bay head coach Ricky Hill said. "Throughout some of the games at home, we've deserved the three points but haven't got them, so today I'm pleased that we did get them."
Ambersley opened the scoring on an assist from Tsuyoshi Yoshitake, easily scoring to give the home side the advantage in the 31st minute.
The Silverbacks fought back quickly, getting a goal from defender Willie Hunt in the 34th minute.
In the 50th minute, FC Tampa Bay goalkeeper Jeff Attinella was called for a foul inside his own 18-yard box, giving Atlanta a penalty kick. Silverbacks midfielder Ciaran O'Brien took the kick, but Attinella dove to his right in time to parry the ball away.
Four minutes later, a low shot from Yoshitake was saved by Atlanta goalkeeper Jimmy Maurer, but the rebound bounced into the path of Ambersley, who collected his second goal of the night, edging FC Tampa Bay ahead 2-1.
Atlanta leveled the game again after being awarded a free kick 35 yards from goal in the 64th minute.
The decisive goal came in the 86th minute when FC Tampa Bay captain Frankie Sanfilippo sent in a cross from the right channel that King one-timed past Maurer.
