Gamecocks knock off Vols

Markeshia Grant scored 27 points and South Carolina beat No. 8 Tennessee 64-60 on Thursday night for its first win over the Lady Volunteers since 1980.

The Gamecocks (18-5, 7-3 SEC) were down 60-55 when Ashley Bruner hit a layup with 3:18 to play. The basket launched a 9-0 run for South Carolina to close out the game, and Ieasia Walker hit the go-ahead layup with 2:15 to play.

The Lady Vols (16-6, 7-2) missed five shots during the run and wouldn't score again.

NO. 5 DUKE 75, WAKE FOREST 43: Haley Peters had 18 points and 11 rebounds to lead four players in double figures as the host Blue Devils (18-3, 9-0ACC) beat the Demon Deacons (12-10, 2-7) for the 37th straight time.

Elizabeth Williams added 16 points, Chelsea Gray 12 and Richa Jackson 11 with 11 rebounds in the 27th straight ACC win at home for the Blue Devils.

NO. 6 KENTUCKY 82, MISSISSIPPI 41: Freshman Bria Goss scored 19 points and the host Wildcats (21-2, 10-0 SEC) matched their best start ever by beating the Rebels (12-11, 2-8)

Kentucky forced Mississippi into 36 turnovers, the most in a conference game this season.

NO. 9 MARYLAND 86, BOSTON COLLEGE 44: Laurin Mincy and Brene Moseley each scored 16 and Alyssa Thomas added 14 to lead the host Terrapins (19-3, 6-3 ACC) past the Eagles (5-17, 0-9).

The Eagles have lost nine straight — their longest losing streak since a 10-game skid in the 1994-95 season. They shot just 21.1 percent.

NO. 12 DELAWARE 62, UNC-WILMINGTON 53: Elena Delle Donne had 29 points and 14 rebounds to help the Blue Hens (19-1, 10-0 Colonial Athletic Association) hold off the Seahawks (13-8, 6-4).

NO. 16 NEBRASKA 93, NO. 15 PURDUE 89: Lindsey Moore scored eight of her 26 points in the third overtime session, including two 3-pointers, and the visiting Cornhuskers (19-3, 8-2) defeated the Boilermakers (18-5, 8-2) in triple overtime to move into a first-place tie in the Big Ten.

NO. 19 PENN STATE 76, INDIANA 44: Maggie Lucas scored 24 points and the host Nittany Lions (17-5, 7-3 Big Ten) beat the Hoosiers (5-18, 0-10) to win for the sixth time in seven games.

Nikki Greene scored 17 points and added six rebounds for the Lions, while Gizelle Studevent scored 10 points.

NO. 21 GEORGIA 70, MISS. ST. 60: Khaalidah Miller shook off a two-game shooting slump as she and teammate Jasmine Hassell scored 16 points each and the Bulldogs (17-6, 6-4 SEC) ended a two-game losing streak.

NO. 24 GEORGIA TECH 75, N.C. STATE 68: Sasha Goodlett scored seven of her 21 points in overtime to lead the host Yellow Jackets (17-6, 7-2 ACC) past the Wolfpack (14-9, 4-6).

FLORIDA 73, LSU 64: Azania Stewart had her first double-double of the season with 12 points and 10 rebounds, Ndidi Madu scored a season-high 12 points and the Gators (14-8, 4-5 SEC) defeated the Tigers (14-8, 4-5 SEC) for their first win in Baton Rouge since Jan. 21, 1996.
