This wasn't the same team Cambridge Christian faced in December.
Playing at rival Bayshore Christian on Tuesday night, the Lancers needed a few late heroics to hold off the Faith Warriors, 46-37, in a Class 2A-District 8 boys basketball game.
Cambridge defeated Bayshore Christian, 59-30, in the first meeting.
"Down here, they're a different team," first-year Cambridge Christian coach Jay Bowen said.
"They're more aggressive at home."
The Faith Warriors (7-6, 3-3) closed within five with 1 minute, 5 seconds remaining. However, junior guard Luke Steinle broke Bayshore's full-court press and went coast-to-coast for a layup.
On the ensuing inbound pass, junior guard Brandon Parker stole the ball and scored on a layup with the foul for a three-point play to extend Cambridge's lead to 44-34 with 47.6 seconds remaining.
Parker finished with a game-high 22 points and six steals.
Junior Divatne Jenkins led Bayshore with 14 points, nine rebound and four blocks.
"(Parker) is our calming factor," Bowen said. "He's the point guard out front that everybody feeds off."
The Lancers (13-2, 6-0) need to defeat Academy at the Lakes next week to wrap up the top seed entering the district tournament. This past week, the team earned its first state ranking in school history when it made the Florida Association of Basketball Coaches Class 2A poll at No. 10.
