Super Bowl Sunday Will Be Cold Early, Cool At Kickoff

»  Comments | Post a Comment

After a start to Sunday that may feel more familiar to fans from Pittsburgh than those from Phoenix, folks attending the Super Bowl will find the kind of weather the NFL likes to see for its showcase game.

The National Weather Service says on Sunday it should be 60 degrees in Tampa with some clouds and a light breeze at 6 p.m., but no rain.

But the start to Super Bowl Sunday might give visitors from Arizona a bit of a shiver. The weather service is calling for morning temperatures in Tampa of 32. But it should warm quickly to a high in the afternoon of 66.

That will be a notable difference from what folks in Pittsburgh will feel at kickoff, when it will be 33 degrees with a wind chill of 24, the weather service says. But at least there is no snow in the forecast.

Visitors in Tampa from Arizona won't feel much difference from home. The Sunday evening temperature in Phoenix is forecast to be 65, only clear and with slightly lower humidity.

Super Bowl XLIII kicks off at 6:18 p.m. at Raymond James Stadium.
