BauerFinancial rates banks and credit unions using a star system based on factors including their capital ratio – essentially how big of a financial cushion they have in case of losses – as well as profitability and non-performing assets, such as loans delinquent 90 days or more.
In the search results above, capital refers to earnings retained by the credit union. Nonperforming assets generally refers to loans that are delinquent by 90 days or more, and repossessed property.
