About this data
These records were gathered over five years, 2004 to 2008, through the National Electronic Injury Surveillance System (NEISS) of the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. The commission assembles the data from about 100 U.S. hospitals to track trends and, in about 10 percent of the cases, to do follow-up research.
