ABOUT THIS DATABASE
This database profiles Atlantic area weather formations that have reached the level of tropical storm or hurricane since record-keeping began in 1906. Storms were known by number until 1950, when authorities began giving them names.
Storm pressure is stated in millibars; at sea level, standard air pressure is 1013.2 millibars. The database was compiled by Tribune researcher Buddy Jaudon using information from the National Hurricane Center and Unysis Weather.
