Floridians reduce waste, increase recycling

Each Floridian, on average, cut daily generation of solid waste from 9.79 pounds to 9.49 pounds over the five years that ended in 2007, the most recent figures available. Solid waste that gets recycled has risen about 25 percent each year, but material headed to the landfills has risen even faster – more than 50 percent per year.
