    Choose Your Offense

For the 14th time, the Super Bowl is coming to Florida.

For the 43rd time, a player with Florida roots should play an important role in the game.

The Super Bowl and Florida-produced players – seemingly, you can’t have one without the other. Now we’re asking your help in determining the best of the best. We’re calling it the Super Bowl’s All-Florida Team.

It’s a list of 73 nominees – reduced from an original pool of 200 selections, after consultation with long-time NFL journalists. They all have Super Bowl experience. They are native sons, either playing at a Florida high school or one of the state’s universities (many did both).

The list includes five Super Bowl Most Valuable Players six Pro Football Hall of Famers (along with a half-dozen more that should be headed to Canton). Represented are a combined 84 Super Bowl championship rings.

There are three (3) choices for each position, except in the case of place-kicker and punter, where there were only two (2) players with Florida ties in Super Bowl history.

Of the top vote getters, the offensive team will consist of one quarterback, two running backs, two wide receivers, one tight end, two offensive tackles, two offensive guards, one place kicker and one center.

Of the top vote getters, the defensive team will consist of two defensive ends, two defensive tackles, two outside linebackers, one middle linebacker, two cornerbacks, two safeties, one kick returner and a punter.

Thanks for your help in selecting the Super Bowl’s All-Florida Team. It will be unveiled on TBO.com and the Tampa Tribune during the week of Super Bowl XLIII in Tampa.
