8's Army

We're looking for consumer-minded folks (retirees, students, professionals, seasonal residents, etc.) to assist other Tampa Bay area consumers as part of our 8 On Your Side Helpline. Our 8's Army volunteers staff the 8 On Your Side Helpline and offer direction and solutions to commonly asked consumer questions.

Our volunteers have the tools and knowledge to help with the most complicated consumer issues. They have the resources in front of them to confidently point callers in the right direction. In this day of "Buyer Beware,” the more people know, the less likely they are to be taken advantage of by bad businesses. You can help consumers sharpen their consumer protection knowledge – and sharpen your own knowledge in the process.

Volunteers are asked to work a minimum of one day each week from 11 a.m. till 1 p.m. at The News Center (located near downtown Tampa on Parker Street). Volunteers need to have their own transportation. Parking is free.
