Leigh Spann
"Leigh Spann joined WFLA in September, 2007. You can see her every Saturday and Sunday on the 6 pm & 11 pm newscasts. She came here from our sister station, WCBD, in Charleston, SC where she was the morning and noon meteorologist. While at WCBD, she received the Award of Merit for South Carolina Weathercaster of the Year. Leigh has also worked at WMAZ in Macon, GA.
While living in Charleston, Leigh worked during several hurricanes and tropical storms that made landfall along the South Carolina coast. Leigh earned the Certified Broadcast Meteorologist (CBM) designation in 2008. She also holds the National Weather Association Broadcast Seal of Approval.
Leigh graduated from the University of Georgia with a BS in Geography and a certificate of Atmospheric Science. She graduated Magna Cum Laude and was one of the first people at UGA to graduate with the Atmospheric Science certificate.
Leigh lives in Tampa with her husband (who works as a producer at WFLA) and their Yorkshire terrier, Baxter, and dachshund, Emily."
