The last remnants of one of the city's oldest businesses are going to fade into history. The city has awarded a contract to D.H. Griffin Wrecking Co. to tear down the remaining buildings and other structures at the former Stock Building Supply at 510 and 511 S. Collins St. Griffin Wrecking will pay the city $500, in exchange for the right to salvage materials from the site. ...more

Expect more state troopers on Florida's highways over the Thanksgiving holiday, one of the deadliest times for driving. The Florida Highway Patrol is planning to gear up for the holiday by assigning nearly every trooper, supervisor and special investigator — about 1,650 total — to look for speeders and drunken drivers.
