This is a quote from the Tampa Tribune on Sept. 24. It came from the mouth of Karen Peoples, who has been the Tampa Housing Authority Commissioner since 1998 and she has, by this article, lived in this residence since 1984. The rent payment Ms. Peoples was responsible for was a mere $26 per month and the article states she was $58 in arrears. She stated she had nowhere to go. The article stated that the authority had been trying to work with Ms. Peoples since January. They offered to relocate her from her four-bedroom house to a one bedroom apartment at three different housing properties. She refused each offer, because it would have taken her out of her East Tampa neighborhood she calls home. ...more
