I am not given to writing letters to the editor but have felt compelled with a sense of urgency to respond to the accusations put forward recently by one of our Spring Lakes residents. Having served a little over nine years on the SLID board, my background is quite deep and I can without hesitation say that the current commissioners are not and do not intend to do anything that would be out of line financially or authoritatively on their watch. This is for the most part a thankless job and not a member of the board over the years as far as I know has ever undertook the job of soliciting votes to serve the Spring Lake Community for financial gain. I read the letters where the Constitution is used to make ones personal point, bent to fit their views. Gulf High School slogged through a 2-8-2 soccer season last year that was marred by forfeited losses and slowed by struggles with growing pains. The 2007-08 season, however, is now little more than a fading image in the review mirror of this present Buccaneers' campaign. ...more

On Dec. 2 I was asked to appear before the Sebring City Council to explain my involvement with the Valencia Circle issue and hear a complaint from one neighbor who apparently does not like the park furniture or horse statue for which I had permission -approval from the city council on Nov. 6, 2007, to place there. I'm sure many of you read the articles in the Highlands Today and are aware of the problem. ...more
