THE DIFFERENCE: With four minutes left in the first half, Lake Placid junior Zack Campbell picked off a pass from quarterback Andrew Burdick and ran it 36 yards to the Lennard 40-yard line. Durant went into halftime ahead 13-6 against Class 6A-District 6 opponent Sarasota, with the running game led by junior running back Ryan Rice looking strong. However, before play could resume, the lights were literally turned out on the game. Lightning forced a suspension of the game at 10:05 Friday night after two attempts to get the players back on the field. THE DIFFERENCE: Cullen O'Brien scored two rushing touchdowns and threw for a third to lift the host Gryphons. O'Brien took advantage of a stout defense that kept Lennard bottled up on its side of the field much of the night. That poor field possession finally caught up with Lennard in the second half. After a pair of sacks, Lennard had to punt from its own 2. Sickles moved the ball on the ensuing possession and O'Brien plunged in from 2 yards out for a 14-7 lead the Gryphons took into halftime.
