TAMPA - Wearing loose-fitting orange detention outfits and shackled, three middle school students accused of setting off an acid bomb were remanded to house arrest today by a judge. The three boys, a 12-year-old and two 11-year-olds, were ordered not to watch television, play video games or contact one another. In the back of every parent's mind is the nagging worry that his or her child may become a victim of violence at a school bus stop. To many parents, it seemed nonsensical. A plan to make school bus service more efficient meant their children would have to cross Bell Shoals Road, one of the busiest north-south arteries in Brandon, just as commuters were rushing to work from their houses, condos and town homes in this booming bedroom community. ...more
