Regarding "Cap-and-trade savings" by Chad Kister, Letters, Dec. 11: Global warming fantasies aside, the true big picture of cap and trade legislation is economic collapse, not savings. The production, distribution and marketing of raw materials and finished goods, the transportation of people and their ability to provide services, and the real national security issue - the mobility of our armed forces - are all totally dependent on hydrocarbon energy.
