SEBRING — Sebring coach Steve Ashley said the driving rain that soaked Firemen's Field in the first half of the Blue Streak girls soccer team's meeting with Palmetto on Thursday night didn't have much of an effect on the game. SEBRING — Rachel Ashley wasn't quite sure how to celebrate the first goal of her high school career. So, she scored another one. Using a new-look lineup and some familiar faces in different roles, the Sebring girls soccer team got two goals from Ashley in a 5-0 victory over DeSoto in Class 4A-District 10 action on Monday night. Ashley, who normally plays on defense, moved to forward and scored the first two goals of her prep career to push the Blue Streaks (4-3-2 overall, 3-2 district) to a winning record on the young season. ...more

SEBRING –– Friendly rivalries are healthy in the sports arena, but when the boundaries of good sportsmanship are crossed, anything can happen. What should have been Amanda Grimaldo's coming-out party turned ugly on Thursday, as a game-halting melee ensued in the 70th minute of Sebring's 5-0 win over Avon Park in a Class 4A-District 10 showdown at Firemen's Field. With the Blue Streaks up by four goals, an Avon Park and Sebring player got tangled up after going for the ball late in the match. One shove led to another, and after a punch to the jaw, the fight ensued. Both teams had players run on the field, as cheers from both sides could be heard over the commotion. "That is the last thing we need in a soccer match," Sebring goalie Becca Secory said. "I wasn't sure what had happened at first, but when I realized there was a fight, I tried to calm our bench down." ...more

PALMETTO – The Sebring Blue Streaks girls soccer team played a spirited first half against the defending Class 4A-District 10 champion Palmetto Tigers on Tuesday. Holding the Tigers to a single goal before the half, the Blue Streaks were feeling pretty good about their play in hostile territory, but a barrage of goals in the second half lifted Palmetto to a 6-0 win over Sebring. ...more
