In response to Millie Grime's letter (Highlands Today Sept. 11) regarding the contributions to Mr. Grimming's campaign, I wish to share information regarding those contributions. First of all, if you check the records, Mr. Grimming has not received any contributions from Michigan. He has received contributions from Illinois. This is due to family support and the respect he earned from colleagues during his years with the Illinois State Police. When the Florida Department of Education recently announced the school grades, I felt a deep sense of pride for the students, faculty and staff at F.W. Springstead High School. In 2004-05, SHS was the first high school in the district to receive the B rating. A Clearwater police officer received an employee notice after her gun discharged in April as she was entering a hotel room where authorities believed a woman might be in distress, according to Clearwater police.
