The father of a 21-year-old woman who authorities say was raped by Raymond Marston, the inmate who escaped from a county jail, today thanked law enforcement and two homeless brothers whose tip led to Marston's capture. Marston, 50, had been in jail since May 27 on charges including sexual battery, kidnapping, robbery and aggravated battery. He escaped from Falkenburg Road Jail on Sunday night as he was being escorted to a medical clinic, the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office said. ...more

In the article "A Financial Day of Reckoning for America" Oct. 6 by Patrick Buchanan it stated: "In a democracy it is said, you get the kind of government you deserve." But what did the American people do to deserve this? If you were one of the more than 40 percent of the citizens who receive government largess, who would you vote for? A: A liberal who promises more and bigger largess or B: A conservative who promises to wean you off the largess? An untrained mind is a dangerous thing to use. How many who want more government welfare and subsidies know what the latent effects of those government programs are or don't they really care? ...more
