Once again on the television and in the newspapers we hear and read the words "we inherited the problem" from the Bush administration. These people need to be taken out back to the wood shed and have their backsides blistered for lying to and disrespecting the people. Note to the Democratic congressmen and women: You cannot "inherit" something from yourself. ...more

Yesterday I went to a store to make our annual Christmas card from a photo of my daughter. It is very easy to do and there are dozens of choices for a card background, but to my surprise, none are actually Christian. It struck me as odd that they are making a profit off of Christmas but excluding the Christian aspect of it. Oh, there were Santas and snowmen, snowflakes, poinsettias and such. There was Hanukkah and other religions represented but no manger scenes, no angels, no Virgin Mary and no Jesus. ...more

I read my public "flogging" by Mr. Miller today; I had to chuckle. Firstly, I don't read fiction books often, so excuse me for not reading Mrs. Palin's book. My point was, the use of the word "rogue" in the title and the definition, which is right there in Webster's Dictionary. Secondly, you turn this into a "leftist fear" rant. McCain's decision to bring Mrs. Palin on as his V.P. candidate lost the election for the Republicans, or so my "rightist" friends tell me. "Annie Oakley" in the White House, was not all that appealing to the majority of voters as the election showed. ...more

This is in response to Bill Ross' letter, "Good Read." If Mr. Ross had taken the time to read Ms. Palin's book before critiquing it, he would have found the answer to his own question concerning the choice of the book's title on pages 318 and 319; quote: It was a CNN story, byline by Dana Bash. Palin's off script comments irk McCain aides. Several McCain advisors suggest they have become increasingly frustrated with what one aide described as Palin "going rogue." A Palin associate however said the candidate is simply trying to "bust free" of what she believed was a damaging and mismanaged roll out." ...more

I would like to take this opportunity to thank Mr. McAllister for his letter on Nov. 24. This was just what the Tea Party movement needed: some left wing nut to remind us why we are holding tea parties. And, he gave us lots more exposure than any of the newspapers in Highlands County, so again thanks Mr. McAllister. But, I do need to correct some of the things that he said: ...more

I just read the comments on the Sebring Tea Party by Roger McAllister, and I disagree with his premise that Tea Party folks are potential criminals. I have also noticed that nobody except Mr. McAllister stated that they were "disruptive." Political correctness has invaded the press and our daily life to the extent that it has diminished free speech, so that if one disagrees with this policy, you have no right to express your views. The Tea Party folks have just as much right to speak as Mr. McAllister, yet he's labeled them as "un-American." ...more
