I have been listening to conservative talkers for some time and I am a little disappointed. It is not the talk the talk, but the walk the walk that is insufficient. A while back I wrote to Judge Bork and asked this question, "Where in our Constitution does it give the government the right to take from one and give to another who does nothing to earn it?" The answer was "you have to take it to court." ...more

I read with interest the letter titled simply "Conservatives" printed on Jan. 20 in Highlands Today. Frankly, Roger, reading your letter was a bit confusing. I could not determine whether you intended to drop a bomb on all conservatives, or whether you were mainly critical of such people as George W. Bush, Dick Cheney, Karl Rove, etc. ...more

Steve Chapman (Obama's 'My Pet Goat' Moment), so you are "appalled and disappointed" by what Barack Obama said? I, and I am sure many others, are appalled and disappointed by you and other bloviators such as Cal Thomas and Rush Limbaugh are doing your best to put a negative spin on anything the President-Elect says in a ridiculous attempt to somehow discredit him. The fact that he is a cautious and non-vindictive man, unlike the likes of you, does nothing to lend credence to your little temper tantrums over the right wing extremists being soundly defeated in recent elections. Had Mr. Obama immediately jumped in without doing a proper investigation into the matter, you would then be calling him a knee jerk. You are entitled to your opinion by those of us who believe in the Constitution (1st Amendment in this case) as does Mr. Obama. Not due to the actions of those who go out of their way to tear down everything done by good people who won't kowtow to them and their cronies. It would be absolutely absurd to expect that the Obama camp had not had contact with the Illinois governor. The question is whether there was any attempt to make an illicit deal concerning Sen. Obama's vacated Senate seat. ...more

In America, a Guy named Joe, who happens to be a plumber, questioned and challenged a guy named Barack (Democrat), who happens to be running for president of the United States, and, within 24 hours, the drive-by media gave us more information about Joe's life than they have given us about Barack's life in the past 24 months. ...more

It is truly disgusting how the political campaigns for the one of the most prestigious offices on this planet have digressed into outrageous smear campaigns. Those of us who were formally trained in professional sales were always taught to sell the features and benefits of our own products without ever mentioning the competition. Do theses candidates have so little to propose that their best election pitch is make us believe they are the lesser of two evils, or do these people have so little faith in the intelligence of the average American that they feel this is the only way to communicate? ...more
