New law a life saver A recent article in this paper indicates the state of Florida has finally caught up with my 2007 Buick Lucerne. Since the day I drove it out of the Rick Mathews Buick parking lot, it lets me know if I have failed to fasten my seat belt. Penni Dale Waters went into the Lowe's at 7921 Gall Blvd. on Tuesday, put a cordless drill battery in her handbag and attempted to leave without paying, according to a sheriff's report. When caught, Waters told police she had learned to defeat security scanners at stores by lining her purse with foil. She said she learned the trick by watching the television show, "COPS." Waters, 48, is charged with petit theft and use of an anti-shoplifting device. She remained in the Land O' Lakes Jail this afternoon with a bail of $2,150. ...more
