Regarding "School Board OKs Speaker's Hiring" (Metro, Dec. 19): The Hillsborough County School Board will spend $25,000 for an etiquette consultant to speak about manners to a small number of male students at two schools. Twin Lakes Elementary's fourth principal in five years hopes to stick around a while. Edith Lefler said she was excited about working with Twin Lakes' parents and students and getting involved in the school's innovative activities, such as its professional development for teachers. "They have such amazing things going on," Lefler said. "It's the type of school I'd love to lead." The Hillsborough County school board appointed her as principal Tuesday night, replacing Holly Saia, who was transferred to Shaw Elementary. Lefler, 36, comes from Town and Country Elementary, where she has served as assistant principal for elementary instruction. Children at Twin Lakes Elementary should find out Dec. 11 who will become their new principal. The Hillsborough County School Board is scheduled to vote at its meeting on the principal appointment to replace Holly Saia. Saia transferred to Shaw Elementary last month for the retiring Gloria Kolka. Saia had served as Twin Lakes' principal since 2005. The school board meeting starts at 3 p.m. Dec. 11 at 901 E. Kennedy Boulevard. It's not a shock by any means that the Pasco County School Board and county commission haven't been able to iron out a new interlocal agreement as part of a state law that takes effect next year tying the approval of new residential development to school capacity.
