SEBRING –– The inaugural Jacob Casey Scholarship and Educational Fund golf tournament was held Saturday at Harder Hall Country Club. Casey, who spent his childhood in Avon Park, moved to Ocala and played football on the Trinity Catholic squad that won the Class 2A state championship. Jacob was tragically killed in a car accident and his father, Brian, came up with the idea for the memorial. "This is a non-profit tournament," said Casey. "All the funds raised will go to underprivileged youth in Highlands County." Current Gator backup quarterback John Brantley, who played with Jacob at Trinity Catholic, along with several other Gator athletes, participated in the event. ...more
